52 Weeks in the Word - Week 8

Week 8!  Can you believe March 1st is Saturday?  At this point we have almost finished 4 books of the Bible.  This week's reading was thought provoking and at times, difficult to understand the necessities of war for the Children of Israel.  Our God is Sovern.  Nothing surprises God.  His plans are the very best!  So, clearly, as we finish Numbers, we can now understand the book is not simply a bout counting, but really, so much more. Where did we see examples of the Christ or the Gospel message in Week 7? In Numbers 27, we see a foreshadowing of Christ with the judgment of Urim.  For more information on this, see Week 7's comments . What did you learn about God's character this week? A brief recap of Week 7's discussions: Don't complain!  - This seems to be an important lesson that was repeated several times. Balaam and the talking donkey with the Angel that only the donkey could see at first.  The Angel of the Lord was an adversary aga...

52 Weeks in the Word - Week 7

How is the reading going? Today, we are beginning Week 7 of 52 Weeks in the Word.  Last week's reading was rich for thought.  It brought on several meaningful conversations within our home.  We also discovered there's a lot more to the Book of Numbers than actual numbers. A brief recap of Week 6's discussions: Over 600,000 men were counted, ready for battle of the children of Israel. The Lord gave us a visual of how he set all these people up by tribe to camp around the temple. God was still leading them cloud by day, fire by night... other's could also find them and welcome join in their camp. Redemption money was mentioned, later Christ will stand in to be their redemption as He is ours today. We also saw the Nazarite Vow. Moses' cry out to God, pleading for help or death.  And God answering that prayer in a significant way.  Ministry leaders could probably relate to this. God answering their complaining with what they want, only to punish them with dea...

52 Weeks in the Word - Week 6

Week 5 has come to an end, and we are almost finished with the book of Leviticus.  I am pleasantly surprised with the amount of dialog we've had over this week's reading.  Thank you all for the wonderful questions and input! We understand reading the parts where it seems like it keeps repeating the same thing over and over again can be a bit challenging.  Remember, when something is repeated in the Bible, there's probably a good reason.   This week some of you have shared some interesting information to help us better understand what life was like during this time for the Children of Israel.  Someone asked why was Aaron picked to be the priest instead of Moses, when clearly Aaron had just allowed them to worship the golden calf .  We had great comments on this as well, sharing a variety of reasons.  Check out last week's blog post comments to learn more. Here are just a few of the ways people mentioned seeing Christ or the Gospel from this week's...

52 Weeks in the Word - Week 5

Greetings Readers!  Over the past four weeks we have completed reading through the first two books of the Bible.  To date, we have read and discussed a variety of unique topics.   Our apologies for no video this week.  We were out of town, and our audio / visual team (AKA Georgia) was busy studying when we arrived home.  And... we were a bit too tired to form intelligent sentences, too. This week some of you have shared some interesting information to help us better appreciate the reading about the Tabernacle and the Ark.  This aided in our understanding of how we can see Jesus and the Gospel message in this week's reading.  Spoiler alert - it all points to Christ!   If you have not already watched the videos shared or read the article about Moses and destroying the tablets, check out the comments from Week 4 here . Here are just a few of the ways people mentioned seeing Christ or the Gospel from this week's reading:   The Tabl...
