52 Weeks in the Word - Week 31

 Welcome to Week 31!  Last week held many powerful passages in the book of Isaiah.  This week we will finish Isaiah and begin reading the book of Jeremiah.  

This section of Scripture is known as the Major Prophets.  There are 5 books included in this section, which gets there name not because of their message or quality, but it is actually due to the length of the books.  Both Isaiah and Jeremiah speak about prophecy and judgement.    

Looking ahead to Week 31:

The reading for Week 31 includes: Isaiah 51 - Jeremiah 3 

The book of Jeremiah was written by the prophet, Jeremiah, around 626 - 582 BC.  The main message is to warn Judah of their destruction, that they have sinned, and explain, or try to persuade them to submit to the Babylonians.

52 Weeks in the Word - Week 2

 It has been such a rich week of Bible reading!  We have been blessed by the dialog in all the groups.   Just a brief recap of the week's chat discussion: Giants mentioned in Chapter 6.  This brought up many more interesting thoughts. Creation and the beautiful gift from the Lord.  We are made in His image.  The various places where we saw examples of Christ or the Gospel, such as with Abraham and Isaac, the three men who came to Abram, and Melchisedek giving his blessing and brought bread and wine. Genealogies and many more... We want to encourage you to keep reading !  If you find yourself needing to catch up, Sundays are great days to do that since there are no extra readings for that day.  Try listening to the Bible with an online app if you find yourself needing a little extra help keeping up.  You are NOT behind, just keep going!   Another great way to be encouraged to read further is joining in with your small group chat...

52 Weeks in the Word - Week 3

Week 2 has come to an end.  This week we've had great discussions going in the group.  Genesis was a book that kept our attention!  It was full of wonderful takeaways, including forgiveness and redemption.   A brief recap of Week 2's discussions: Consequences of blessings and curses Early generations without Jesus or Scripture getting to Heaven Burying idols  Examples of forgiveness The fact that Joseph's brothers did not take his advice when talking with the Pharoah in Chapter 47 Woman being an equal helper to man, with a deeper meaning than the generic meaning of helper today. We even had some of these discussions in the discussion posts this week of the blog, so feel free to go back and read through the first two weeks' discussions on this blog.  We want to encourage you, if you have a question, reach out and ask.  Feel free to leave a comment here or in your small group text.  We have enjoyed digging deeper with you all this week.
