52 Weeks in the Word - Week 34

Welcome to Week 34!  I'm not sure if you are counting yet, but there are only 18 more weeks until we finish!!  Some of you have reached out, stating that you are behind on your reading, but you all said you are not giving up!  You all are doing an amazing job.  This is no small task or commitment.   Thank you for reading with us.  If you find yourself falling behind, I highly suggest using a free Bible app, such as Blue Letter Bible, to listen to the version of the Bible you prefer.  It is amazing how listening 15 to 30 minutes a day will get you caught up quickly!  Listen while you water flowers, morning chores around the house, or on your morning commute.

Last week's reading we pressed on through the prophet Jeremiah's book.  We read the warnings from the Lord, and we read about people not listening.  We also saw mention of the child sacrifices again in Chapter 32, verse 35.

A thought shared from last week's reading:
Jeremiah 31:33 - 34 - A New Covenant
"But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord:  I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people
.  No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for they shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord.  For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."

Looking ahead to Week 34:

The reading for Week 34 includes: Jeremiah 39 - Lamentations 2.

This week we will finish reading the book of Jeremiah and begin the book of Lamentations.

Here are a few interesting facts on the book of Lamentations.  The prophet Jeremiah also wrote Lamentations between 625 - 586 B.C. after the fall of Jerusalem.  In this book, we will continue to be reminded that there are consequences for every person's actions.  Also, no matter how difficult the situation seems, God's mercy still stands.

Also know, this is a common week that many need help to catch up.  Once you find yourself ready to dive in to study a little deeper, Week 34's reflection in the book has a great break down of ways to dig deeper in your study for a chapter.  If you don't have time this week, mark that reflection to go back and use for any chapter you want to learn about a little more.

We look forward to hearing your comments on this week's reading.
