52 Weeks in the Word - Week 4
Three weeks have past by quickly! I cannot believe we will see the first day of February in this week's reading! It has been a great start in the Word for the new year.
(I said all that in hopes I wouldn't sound like a broken record by saying how exciting and rich this past week's reading was... but, it really was!)
This week several of you have joined in with discussions on where you see Christ or the Gospel message in our reading, and it has been so eye-opening!
Here are just a few of the ways people mentioned from this week's reading:
- The Red Sea representing the first indication of water baptism - beginning of a new life and freedom but not at our destination.
- Sacrificial lamb for the death angel to pass over during the last plague.
- The blood placed on the door posts, and the Scripture referencing Jesus as the door (John 10:9).
- Jesus is our source of living waters - The water that comes out of the rock also points to Jesus.
Interesting fact - the first time Ginger preached came from the first part of Exodus where God called out to Moses, and Moses answered, "Here am I."
A brief recap of Week 3's discussions:
- God laid out the big picture to Moses that He would harden Pharoah's heart. This was interesting since many times we do not get that kind of information from the Lord.
- Some revisited the topic of the giants again, discussing Goliath, which we will get to in the future, but still the discussion was interesting.
- The question was asked, were the Children of Israel hesitant to walk through the path the Lord had created for them at the Red Sea, with high walls of water on each side of them?
- The Red Sea is also allegorical to Christ and His redemption.
- God put the Children of Israel in situations that were not comfortable to them, but they were all part of God's plan. In fact, they were for their benefit to help them to o believe and follow the Lord.
- It is important to listen to God because it isn't always about us, but God could be using us for the benefit of someone else.
- Right after miracles, God would lead the Children of Israel to places they couldn't see God's plan, and they began to grumble and question everything. They easily forgot their blessings!
- Moses had it rough leading this crew... who didn't always listen to instructions.
- God commanded them to keep some manna as a testimony for future generations. It is important to share our testimony and tell our children.
As always, feel free to leave a comment here or in your small group text about your reading. We have enjoyed digging deeper with you all this week.
Looking ahead to Week 4:
The reading for Week 4 includes: Exodus 22-40.
This week we finish reading the book of Exodus and learn a bit about the tabernacle. We also read a very interesting conversation between God and Moses in Chapter 32.
We pray the Lord blesses you all as you study His word.
We can't wait to hear from you this week! Keep Reading!!!
Danke Euch beiden für die tolle Zusammenfassung!

ReplyDeleteMatt and I found an interesting article on the significance of Moses breaking the tablets of the 10 Commandments. There are others out there that have different ideas, even from the Jewish Bible website, so I suggest you take some time if it interests you and read through some.
