52 Weeks in the Word - Week 33
Welcome to Week 33! How are you doing with your reading at this point? Do you find it easier to make time for the Word or are you having a harder time digging in? Wherever you might fit in to that scenario, don't worry; keep reading!
A thought shared from last week's reading:
Jeremiah 17:7-8
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit."
This is similar to what we read in Psalm 1, speaking to the blessings of the man who delights in the Lord God.
Looking ahead to Week 33:
The reading for Week 33 includes: Jeremiah 22-38.
In chapter 24, we read about the baskets of figs, one good and the other bad. Judgment was coming to Judah. This was showing that not everyone was seen as the same in God's eyes. Some were like the good figs, which were basically sent out of Judah for their own good. God would bless them, even in captivity. Then, the bag "figs" would see the sword, famine, and pestilence.
Also, a well-known verse, Jeremiah 29:11, will be in this week's reading. Reading Scripture in context is vital for interpretating and understanding its meaning. The ultimate lesson here is that God is sovereign over our lives. The God in the days of Jeremiah is the same God who plans our days!
We look forward to hearing your comments on this week's reading.
Have a wonderful week and feel free to share your thoughts with us as you read.
